THUNDERING BLURB » Carson Palmer ANDREW GARDA'S ENDLESS TAKES ON NFL AND COLLEGE FOOTBALL Fri, 22 Oct 2010 12:30:31 +0000 en hourly 1 Really? Seriously? Coles signs with the Bengals Wed, 04 Mar 2009 21:54:00 +0000 admin I like Laveranues Coles, I really do. But you let Housh go and this guy is the replacement? I guess not really, that ends up in Chad Johnson/Chris Henry/Andre Caldwell’s hands.

Coles probably will have a better year with Palmer throwing to him but really, this is a huge step down for the Bengals. And locking him up for 4 years?

If your alleged concern was age, well Housh and Coles are the same age and frankly Housh is twice the receiver Coles is. Coles has great hands and is a tough as nails receiver but he’s no TJ. Yes, they saved $15 million in guarentees, a year and a couple million per year. But you have to wonder what they just gave up in ability. Maybe Housh doesn’t have that much left in the tank. And the guarenteed money Housh got was likely just too much.

But every day – since they announced that Ced Benson was their top priority – Cinci has felt like they are going backwards.

Coles will do better this year – NFL and Fantasy-wise. But I have to wonder where this franchise is going right now.

And frankly if that OLine doesn’t get fixed, it’s all moot.

Hasselbeck OUT/Palmer OUT Week 7 Mon, 13 Oct 2008 22:27:00 +0000 admin According to the Tacoma News Tribue – Matt Hasselbeck is out due to a bulging disc in his back. The hyperextended knee is not a huge factor – though it is a worry. Still, this was not on anyone’s radar and is bad news. They have sent him to a specialist in Los Angeles where he will rehab and try to get back for week 8.

Not good news for folks though Seneca Wallace will probably take over for Charlie Frye.

Remember when Frye was the starter in Cleveland? Ugh.

Carson Palmer has not talked to Marvin Lewis since he met with the Mets’ doctor (as I mentioned on the morning Stampede) but has already ruled him out. Apparently the doctors recommended a conservative approach with Carson’s elbow. Which leaves Ryan Fitzpatrick in charge against the Steelers….. him and his not-strong-enough-to-air-it-out arm.

Yeeeaaaaaahh……….. Do I need to warn you off about everyone on Cinci this week?

More as it comes in – WR performers tonight during the game.

CARSON PALMER STARTING Sun, 05 Oct 2008 18:47:00 +0000 admin I have concerns about him finishing but he will start.

The Cowboys secondary isn’t great and have some injury concerns – I don’t like Palmer today but if you are stuck, you can start him at least. Good news for Housh and Ocho Cinco though.

Sunday Morning NFL Update The First Sun, 05 Oct 2008 15:46:00 +0000 admin Brian Westbrook - Active today, start him against a Redskin defense that just announced two more players inactive today (CB Shawn Springs, LB Marcus Washington).

Charles Tillman - will be playing today and that makes life a little more worrisome for Kitna owners.

Aaron Rodgers – will be playing. If you have another good matchup, I am still worried about him surviving the game, so consider using them instead. Earlier this week, sources said the Packers were concerned the injury would threaten his season.

Carson Palmer – he’s allegedly determined to play, but like Rodgers (only even moreso) he’s not a sure bet to finish the game. Worse, Dallas will make it a long day for the hapless Bengals. Unlike with Rodgers, there is no doubt – use someone else.

Willis McGahee - This week’s Official Thundering Blurb Mr. Glass is reportedly so bruised and banged up, he may not make it through the game according to John Clayton. Against that defense? Avoid unless you are in a huge bind, he’s a bad play.

More as the morning progresses….
